In this video I show how I repaired a small area of clear coat peel without respraying the panel. ******************************** Links to products: 2k Clearcoat kit - https://www.paintgear.co.uk/collections/touch-ups/products/2k-lacquer-clearcoat-kit-50ml 1k Clearcoat 50ml Bottle - https://www.paintgear.co.uk/collections/touch-ups/products/1k-clear-coat-lacquer-50ml Wet & Dry Paper 1200-3000 Grit - https://www.paintgear.co.uk/collections/sanding-polishing/products/fine-sanding-polishing-pack-sandpaper-only Wet Sanding Blocks - https://www.paintgear.co.uk/collections/sanding-polishing/products/wet-sanding-block-set Cutting Polish/Compound 250g - https://www.paintgear.co.uk/collections/sanding-polishing/products/proxl-extreme-cut-compound-250g Orange Cutting Pad 5" - https://www.paintgear.co.uk/collections/sanding-polishing/products/5-premium-cutting-pad-orange The front end of this Volvo appears to have been painted before, and there were several small areas where the lacquer had started to lift and peel away. On larger areas, the correct repair would normally involve refinishing or respraying the panel, but for small isolated patches like this, a more localised repair can be a useful option. This method uses minimal tools and materials and is aimed more at DIY touch-up repair than full bodyshop refinishing. The goal is to improve the appearance of the damaged area, smooth and seal the peeling edge, and hopefully help prevent the clear coat from lifting any further. It isn’t a perfect replacement for a full professional respray, but for small patches of lacquer peel it can make a big improvement without repainting the whole panel. If you have a small area of peeling clear coat, lacquer peel, clear coat damage or failed lacquer, this video should give you an idea of what can be achieved with a simple local repair. ********************************** All the products seen in the video can be found here: www.paintgear.co.uk #ClearCoatRepair #LacquerPeel #CarPaintRepair #DIYCarRepair #PaintCorrection #TouchUpRepair #CVRPOV
