Description

This is not a performance for tourists. This is real. Near Lake Logipi in the remote semi-desert of northern Kenya, about 60 members of the Turkana community gathered for a rare traditional ceremony. In front, women move on hands and knees in perfect sync, heads painted in red ochre, wearing heavy colorful beaded necklaces. Behind them, the community sings and claps, keeping the rhythm alive. The Turkana are indigenous pastoralists of northwestern Kenya - goat and cattle herders, fishermen of Lake Turkana, living in one of the harshest places in Africa. Their traditions have survived for generations. A truly rare glimpse into a culture few outsiders ever see. #Kenya #Africa #AfricanCulture #TurkanaTribe #IndigenousCulture #TraditionalDance #AfricanTribe #Culture
