Description
Everything we love will change. Relationships end, children grow up, parents get older, friendships shift, and chapters of life close before we feel ready. In Buddhism, this is anicca—impermanence. But impermanence is not a reason to love less. It is an invitation to become more present to what is here while it is here.
In this reflection, we explore why endings hurt so deeply, how resistance can add another layer of suffering, Ajahn Chah’s teaching of the “already broken” glass, and why something does not have to last forever in order to have been meaningful. We also look at how gratitude can sit beside grief without replacing it.
Not everything meaningful is meant to be permanent. Sometimes peace begins when we stop asking what changes to remain forever—and learn instead to love what is here, grieve what leaves, and give this moment our full attention. 🙏
