Description

▶ Watch the complete Japanese Plane Setup series: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGBzk7giV4pE&si=xzEQlolloeymdC-k In this video, we continue setting up my apprentice’s Japanese plane. This time, we’re fitting the blade to the dai. The blade isn’t perfectly straight, so the dai has to be carefully adjusted to match the actual shape of the blade. When you get the fit right, the blade barely moves. We also made a mistake this time. My apprentice got a little impatient and cracked the dai 😂 That’s part of learning too. At the beginning of the video, you’ll see some of the ultra-thin shavings from Kezuroukai. Getting a shaving that thin isn’t just about sharpening. Every part of the plane matters. Next time, we’ll work on the sole of the dai. Thanks for watching! If you’re enjoying this series, please subscribe and follow along. #JapanesePlane #Kanna #JapaneseCarpentry #Woodworking #JapaneseTools
