Description

With the price and performance of a supercar, the 2026 Lamborghini Urus takes the automaker's trademark cuts-and-creases design philosophy and applies it to an SUV. Capable of both blasting to 60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds (we think it'll be even quicker in our hands) and transporting your mother sedately to her bridge club luncheon, it almost succeeds in making the irrational somewhat rational. A plug-in-hybrid (PHEV) powertrain fuses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 gas engine and electric motor for a peak combined output of 789 horsepower. That’s enough grunt to push the Urus all the way to a top speed of 194 mph, says Lamborghini. The battery pack also provides the option of EV-only operation for an EPA-estimated 35 miles, and the electric motor helps to flatten the torque curve compared to the now-discontinued gasoline-only SE and Performante trims. Expert Tip: The Urus SE backs up its aggressive bravado with unassailable performance, but if your style is more reserved, the Audi RS Q8 delivers only slightly less performance but at a price around $100k less. What's New for 2026? The former SE and Performante models now sleep with the fishes, leaving only the Urus SE plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 Lamborghini Urus starts at $252.007. Engine, Transmission, and Performance Hybrid Powertrain: 620-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 and one electric motor, 789 hp combined Transmission: 8-speed automatic Drivetrain: all-wheel drive With the nonhybrid S and Performante models no longer available, the plug-in hybrid Urus SE has the showroom floor to itself. Utilizing a 620-hp twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 mated to a 192-hp electric motor—the setup is closely related to the 739-hp powertrain of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid—the combined output is 789 horsepower and 701 pound-feet of torque, all funneled through an eight-speed automatic transmission with standard all-wheel drive. The electric motor provides 356 pound-feet of torque right from step-off, assisted shortly thereafter by the twin-turbo V-8; output peaks at 6000 rpm. In our test drive, we found that the Urus SE feels athletic and racy from behind the wheel, too, with quick steering and stable high-speed cornering. With air springs at all four corners, the Urus adjusts ride height based on its various drive modes. Standard carbon-ceramic brakes ensure that the Urus stops as well as it goes.
