MURDER IN THE ADIRONDACKS THE GRACE BROWN TRAGEDY

#unclejosh #campfirecrew #truescarystories She went to Big Moose Lake believing she was meeting the man she loved. Instead, Grace Brown would leave the Adirondacks in a coffin—and the story of what happened to her would become twisted by newspapers, fiction, rumor, and decades of retelling. In July 1906, Grace Brown traveled into the Adirondacks with her boyfriend, Chester Gillette. Within days, her body was pulled from Big Moose Lake, Gillette was accused of murder, and one of the most sensational criminal cases of the era began. But how much of the story we think we know about Grace Brown is actually true? In this episode, we go back to the original case: Grace and Chester's relationship, the mysterious trip to Big Moose Lake, the evidence against Gillette, the sensational trial, and the events that ultimately led to his execution. Then we separate the historical record from the stories, assumptions, and misinformation that grew around the case over the years. This is the true story of Grace Brown—and the mystery of how her murder became something very different in the telling.
