Description

Arizona’s summer monsoon turns the desert into a corridor of intense thunderstorms and frequent lightning. Storm chasers George Kourounis and R.J. Evans track developing cells across the state, reading storm movement, road access, rain and lightning activity as they search for the right position to photograph the electrical storms. From the Sonoran Desert to night chases outside Phoenix, the film shows the practical decisions behind lightning photography: staying ahead of the rain, judging distance, working with long exposures and knowing when conditions become too dangerous. The result is a field-driven look at Arizona monsoon weather, storm chasing and the challenge of capturing lightning at close range.
