Raised in the South American tropics, Bingo Dowling inherits an oil fortune and is taken to New York to learn the ways of high society. On the voyage, she falls in love with Andy McAllister, a young man whose pride will not allow him to live on her wealth. Bingo believes that love matters more than money. Andy feels he must make his own way before they can marry. With her guardian discouraging the match and her fiery temperament unsettling polite society, their romance becomes a struggle between affection, independence and expectations. Directed by Jack Conway for MGM, Untamed captures Joan Crawford at a turning point in her career. Her first dramatic talkie also gave Robert Montgomery his first leading role.
