Description
In this video, I take you through every type of planet in the universe, from the familiar rocky worlds like our own, all the way to planets that orbit dead stars. We start close to home with terrestrial planets, gas giants, ice giants, and dwarf planets, then leave our solar system entirely for the worlds we don’t have here: super-Earths, mini-Neptunes, and hot Jupiters that circle their stars in just a few days. Then it gets strange. Lava planets where it rains molten rock, ocean worlds hundreds of kilometers deep, planets made of diamond, planets made of iron, and cotton-candy worlds so light they would float on water. From there we reach the truly bizarre: eyeball planets frozen on one side and scorched on the other, worlds with two suns in the sky, rogue planets drifting alone through the dark with no star at all, and pulsar planets circling the corpse of a dead star, which were the very first planets we ever found beyond our own. By the end, you’ll see that after finding thousands of these worlds, the rarest and strangest planet of all might just be the one you’re standing on.
