Lost Worlds: The Giant Creatures That Ruled Earth Before Dinosaurs | Prehistoric Earth Documentary Long before dinosaurs became dominant, Earth was home to a strange world where giant insects and arthropods ruled the skies and forests. During the Carboniferous Period, atmospheric oxygen reached levels far higher than today, helping creatures such as Meganeura, Arthropleura, and Pulmonoscorpius reach extraordinary sizes. But this giant world did not last forever. As oxygen levels changed, climates shifted, and new competitors appeared, insects gradually lost their dominance. Gliding reptiles, pterosaurs, birds, dinosaurs, and mammals introduced new forms of movement, hunting, and survival. This documentary explores the forgotten creatures of prehistoric Earth and the environmental changes that transformed a world once ruled by giants.
