Description
Burger King spent years cutting costs, refranchising restaurants, and turning the business into an asset-light royalty machine. But eventually, the consequences caught up with the system.
This documentary explores how Burger King’s strategy under 3G Capital shifted more of the financial burden onto franchisees, while many restaurants fell behind competitors on remodels, technology, and customer experience. By 2023, several major Burger King franchise operators had filed for bankruptcy and hundreds of U.S. locations closed. RBI then began pouring hundreds of millions of dollars back into the brand, before spending $1 billion to acquire Carrols Restaurant Group and committing another $500 million to remodel more than 600 restaurants.
Bagholder Association breaks down the business decisions behind famous brands, and what happens when short-term financial efficiency creates a very expensive long-term bill.
