Sound of Violence (2021) is a psychological slasher horror film written and directed by Alex Noyer, starring Jasmin Savoy Brown, Lili Simmons, and James Jagger. The film follows a young woman whose unusual connection between sound, pain, and pleasure drives her into a terrifying world of violence. Alexis Reeves was deaf as a child, but when she witnesses the brutal murder of her family at the age of ten, she suddenly regains her hearing. The traumatic experience also awakens a rare sensory ability called synesthesia, which allows her to experience sounds through vivid physical and sensory sensations. As an adult, Alexis becomes fascinated by the sounds produced by pain and violence. She begins experimenting with sound in an attempt to create a unique musical composition. However, ordinary sounds are no longer enough to satisfy her obsession, and she starts deliberately recording real acts of suffering and murder. Her roommate, Marie Sotker, cares deeply about Alexis and supports her creative ambitions without understanding the disturbing truth behind her experiments. Alexis also meets Duke, but her growing obsession with capturing increasingly intense sounds threatens her relationships and pushes her further into dangerous territory. When Alexis fears that she may lose her hearing again, she becomes desperate to finish her musical masterpiece. She begins targeting people and transforming their suffering into recordings, treating each violent act as another piece of her composition. As the police investigate the disturbing incidents, Alexis struggles to conceal her crimes. Marie gradually discovers that the person she trusts is hiding a horrifying secret, placing their relationship in danger.
