Description

The ongoing conversation between Ghana and Nigeria over the involvement of Nollywood actors in the new movie A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu) has sparked reactions online. Nigerian movie stars including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor, Charles Anwurum, Destiny Etiko, Pete Edochie, Zubby Michael, Francis Odega, Mike Ezuruonye and Harry B. Anyanwu are currently in Ghana for the movie, produced by Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Lil Win. Ghana News Agency. However, the decision to bring several Nigerian actors into Ghana for the production has generated criticism from some people who questioned why more Ghanaian actors were not used in the movie. The situation became even more interesting after Lil Win explained his reasons for choosing Nigerian actors, while Kanayo O. Kanayo also reacted strongly to comments about the fees Nigerian actors receive compared with Ghanaian actors. In this video, I share my own honest opinion about the whole Ghana-Nigeria movie industry situation. I also talk about Ghanaian actors who have worked extensively in Nigerian productions and why I believe there should be more collaboration between both entertainment industries instead of constant comparison and unnecessary rivalry. I also look at the contributions Nigerian movie marketers and the Nigerian entertainment market made to the popularity of Ghanaian movies in Nigeria during the years when Ghanaian films were very popular across the country. What do you think about this whole situation? Do you agree with Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwor and the other Nigerian actors, or do you understand the concerns being raised by some Ghanaian actors? Is it wrong for Nigerian actors to travel to Ghana for movie productions just as Ghanaian actors come to Nigeria to work? Let us know your honest opinion in the comment section because this is definitely a conversation that will get people talking. Watch the full video to hear my complete take on the matter.
