Description

Aristotle didn't just study the world — he tried to understand almost everything in it. Born in the ancient Greek city of Stagira, Aristotle lost his father at a young age and was sent to Athens, where he would spend twenty years studying under Plato. That long relationship shaped his thinking — but Aristotle would eventually challenge some of his teacher's deepest ideas and build a philosophy of his own. From Plato's Academy to the courts of Macedonia, from teaching the young Alexander the Great to founding the Lyceum in Athens, from studying animals and nature to asking what makes a human life good — this is the full story of the philosopher who became one of the most influential thinkers in history. This documentary explores Aristotle's early life, his twenty years with Plato, his years on Lesbos, his role as Alexander the Great's tutor, the founding of the Lyceum, his ideas about logic, ethics, politics, science, and human nature, and the final years that followed Alexander's death. Aristotle's ideas would influence philosophy, science, politics, medicine, education, and religion for more than two thousand years. His work helped shape the foundations of Western thought, and his question about what makes a life worth living still matters today. #history #documentary #aristotle #philosophy #ancientgreece Chapters & Timestamps 00:00:00 Aristotle's Final Days: Exile and Death 00:06:24 Aristotle's Childhood in Ancient Greece 00:15:15 20 Years With Plato: Aristotle's Academy Years 00:29:14 Aristotle in Exile: His Years on Lesbos 00:40:56 Aristotle and Alexander the Great 00:47:14 The Lyceum: Aristotle's School of Philosophy 01:03:20 A Day in the Life of Aristotle 01:18:39 After Alexander's Death: Aristotle in Exile 01:28:06 The Death of Aristotle: His Final Years 01:35:32 Aristotle's Legacy: 2,000 Years of Influence 01:52:16 Aristotle's Final Lesson: The Meaning of a Good Life Aristotle taught Alexander the Great, founded the Lyceum, studied everything from politics and poetry to animals and the natural world, and developed ideas that would influence generations of philosophers and scientists.
