Description

When President Kennedy promised to put an American on the Moon, almost every visible sign suggested the Soviets should get there first. They had launched Sputnik. They had reached the Moon with Luna 2. And Yuri Gagarin had become the first human to orbit the Earth. America hadn't even sent a man around the Earth once. In 1961, the Soviets seemed to own the Space Race. But eight years later, Neil Armstrong was standing on the Moon — while the Soviet lunar program was struggling with a giant rocket that never completed a successful flight. Something had changed, and it wasn't simply that America built the more powerful rocket. The secret wasn't one brilliant astronaut or one better machine. It was an invisible system — lunar orbit rendezvous, Gemini, Apollo, relentless testing, and hundreds of thousands of people working toward one goal — that allowed America to turn failures into solutions and thousands of separate parts into a single mission. This is the story of how America went from chasing the Soviet Union to reaching the Moon first, and why the system behind Apollo accomplished what the Soviet lunar program never did. #space #spacerace #apollo11 #nasa #moonlanding #coldwar #history #saturnv #AmericaUnseen To clarify videos are made for educational purposes!
