📕 The Home Savings Manual — 79 ways to stop overpaying for your own house:
https://brendacarver.com/
That package of ground beef says 100% beef across the front in big friendly letters, and you think at least you know what you're getting. You don't. That's just the federal rule for ground beef read back to you in a nice font. The words on the front are chosen because they test well. The words on the back are there because the law made them be there. Our grandmothers knew their butcher. We've got a label written by a lawyer.
In this one I'll walk you through what the words on a beef package legally mean:
🥩 What "100% beef" really promises, and the difference between ground beef, hamburger and beef patties
🌾 Why "natural" says nothing about how the animal lived, and grass-fed versus "grass finished"
🇺🇸 What "Product of USA" means now, and why most packages don't say where the beef came from at all
🔴 Why that bright red color can't be trusted, plus the salt-water and needle-tenderized labels on steaks and roasts
…and the one thing I do instead that costs less and ends the guessing: a chuck roast, ground at home.
Flip the package over before it goes in the cart, and keep your money right where it belongs.
If saving money and knowing what you're really buying sound good to you, subscribe and stick around — that's what we do here every week. 💛
What did the back of your last beef package actually say? Tell me down in the comments.
