Description

A super El Niño is building in the Pacific, and its effects have already started spreading across the world. NOAA declared El Niño on June 11, and in the weeks since, the forecasts have only gotten stronger. There's now an 81% chance this becomes a very strong El Niño between October and December, ranking among the largest events since records began in 1950, with the European model projecting ocean temperatures more than 3°C above average. ━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⏱️ CHAPTERS 00:00 The city where the sun disappeared 01:54 What El Niño actually is 03:36 Why this one has everyone worried 05:14 The first domino: Peru's collapsing fishery 06:29 El Niño and India’s monsoon 08:21 Did El Niño cause Europe's heatwave? 09:46 The hurricane paradox 11:16 What it means for your place 14:14 It's landing on a planet that's already hot ━━━━━━━━━━━━ REFERENCES: 📌 World Meteorological Organization (WMO) — El Niño/La Niña Update @ 📌 IRI / Columbia University — ENSO Forecast (model plume & probabilities) @ 📌 NOAA Climate Prediction Center — ENSO Diagnostic Discussion & El Niño Watch @ 📌 Carbon Brief — "Strong El Niño puts 2026 on track for second-warmest year” @ 📌 James Hansen (Columbia University) — "2026 On Track for Warmest Year” @ NOAA — 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook @ 👨🏻‍💻Created By and Produced By: Rishabh Nakra 🎙️Narrated By: Jeffrey Smith
