Description
🔗 Keep good clothes wearable longer, starting with a 60-second check:
han.handoverbooks.com
A mark on a favorite coat can look simple at the front counter. You point to it, hand over the garment, and hope the cleaner can take it from there. But the small details that happened at home often matter before any professional work begins. A dab of dish soap, a damp paper towel, a spray, a wash cycle, or a pass with an iron can all be part of the garment's history.
After forty-one years around a dry-cleaner counter and spotting board in Greensboro, I learned that the clearest handoff begins before you leave the house. The cleaner needs to know where the mark was, what caused it if you know, and what has already touched the fabric. Even a spot that seems to have disappeared can still need to be identified. This video is about giving the garment a full story instead of asking someone in the back room to guess at one.
On my counter today:
1. Why a little home treatment still belongs in the stain story
2. What to mention about sprays, wipes, dish soap, washing, and drying
3. Why heat from a dryer or iron matters at drop-off
4. How to point out a faded oil or clear-spill mark
5. The simple facts to put on a handwritten garment note
6. Loose buttons, weak seams, thin fabric, and hems worth documenting
7. What to say about a faded, missing, or cut-out care label
8. Pockets, pins, belts, and detachable pieces to check before handoff
This does not guarantee that a stain can be removed or that a garment can be restored. It helps you give a cleaner the information needed for a clearer assessment and handoff.
What is the one garment in your closet that has a stain story, and what state are you taking it to a cleaner from?
If careful clothes care matters to you, subscribe and keep a little more useful life in the things you already own.
Keep the story with the garment,
Mrs. Han
