Before I retired at 54, I spent a lot of time thinking about investments, expenses, healthcare and how I would actually fund an early retirement. But there are also some very practical things that can create a huge headache if you don't deal with them before leaving work.
In this video, I walk through 7 retirement-preparation items that have very little to do with the size of your portfolio — including what disappears when you leave your employer, whether your spouse can actually manage the financial plan, beneficiaries and estate documents, digital access, passwords and 2FA, and creating a simple “What If” folder someone could use if something happened to you.
The goal isn't to make retirement more complicated.
It's to make your financial life **organized, accessible and understandable** — even if someday someone other than you has to manage it.
