Watch Street Scene (1931), the full movie in English: King Vidor's classic Hollywood drama starring Sylvia Sidney, set in old New York. Step back into New York during a sweltering summer, when neighbors gather on the steps of a crowded tenement and private worries become public conversation. Young Rose Maurrant dreams of a life beyond the street she calls home. Her mother's lonely marriage, her father's growing suspicions and her own hopes for love draw the family toward a devastating turning point. Can Rose find a future of her own amid the expectations and judgments of those around her? Adapted by Elmer Rice from his 1929 Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Street Scene brings together intimate family drama, vivid neighborhood life and the craftsmanship of early Hollywood.
