Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lt-Gen Shadrack Sibiya’s bail hearing intensified at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court as his defence lawyer, Advocate Amanda Nel, cross-examined investigating officer Detective Sergeant Nokukhanya Ndlovu over the State’s case, including Sibiya’s cellphone seizure, the later search warrant and alleged witness interference.The court also heard disputed recordings that the State says are relevant to alleged attempts to influence witnesses, including a conversation referring to money and withdrawing the case, while Sibiya’s defence challenged the recordings, their interpretation and the alleged links to Sibiya.Advocate Nel further challenged Ndlovu over the alleged police-system access, the circumstances surrounding Sibiya’s arrest and the alleged involvement of Bishop Hangwisani Maumela, with the defence arguing there was no direct evidence that Maumela acted on Sibiya’s instructions
