Description

Welcome to Wolf Data, From 1860 to 2026, international migration transformed the demographic landscape of the world as hundreds of millions of people moved across borders in search of jobs, safety, opportunity and a better quality of life. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the United States became the dominant destination for large migration waves from Europe, while Argentina, Canada, Brazil and Australia also attracted millions of newcomers. After World War II, Western European countries such as Germany, France and the United Kingdom became major immigration destinations, while oil-rich Gulf states including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates later attracted enormous foreign workforces. By 2024, the world contained approximately 304 million international migrants, almost four times the estimated 77 million in 1960. Migration Policy Institute The United States remained by far the largest destination with 52.4 million international migrants, followed by Germany with 16.8 million, Saudi Arabia with 13.7 million, the United Kingdom with 11.8 million and France with 9.2 million. Naciones Unidas This 1860–2026 timeline follows the countries hosting the largest immigrant populations and shows how wars, economic booms, political changes, globalization and major migration waves reshaped where migrants live around the world. 🌍✈️ ⛲Sources: ▫️United Nations DESA – International Migrant Stock ▫️Historical Census ▫️Migration Policy Institute 💻Editor: ▫️Filmora 🖼️Thumbnails: ▫️Canva Countries featured in the video: United States Australian colonies United Kingdom Ottoman Empire 2nd French Emp.
