Description

If there's a smell in your house this winter that you keep explaining away, or someone you love lives alone and might be doing the same, this is the one video I'd want you to watch before the next cold snap. I spent 35 years in emergency communications, first as a 911 dispatcher, then supervising a county dispatch center through ice storms, floods, and outages that lasted days. Some of the best calls I ever took started with the words "it's probably nothing." In this video: the harmless winter smell and how to tell it from a warning, what to tell the dispatcher when you call (your guess can send the wrong crew), why your nose is the weakest alarm you own, the deadly hazard that has no smell at all, what to do about gas, fuel oil, and electrical smells, and the leave-first plan to set up before you ever need it. If you smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide, get outside and call 911 from there. This video is general safety education, not professional advice. 🔔 Subscribe for more real talk on winter safety, home preparedness, and what actually keeps people safe when the weather turns, not just what makes headlines. 💬 Tell me in the comments: what smell have you explained away before? No judgment. I did it too. #wintersafety #carbonmonoxide #homesafety #livingalone #seniorsafety #911dispatcher #gasleak #winterprep
