Scientists Compared Jewish DNA to 73 Ancient Canaanites — The Result Shocked Everyone

For more than 3,000 years, the Canaanites have remained central to one of the ancient Middle East's most fascinating historical mysteries. But what happens when scientists compare their DNA with Jewish populations living today? In a landmark genetic study, researchers analyzed DNA from 73 ancient individuals associated with Canaanite culture across five archaeological sites. The results revealed a remarkable ancestry story involving ancient Levantine populations and genetic connections to the Zagros and Caucasus regions. Even more fascinating, scientists found substantial ancestry related to these ancient populations among several present-day Jewish communities and Arabic-speaking populations of the Levant. But the discovery reveals a complex shared genetic history—not one exclusive ancestral origin. In this documentary, we explore Jewish DNA, ancient Canaanite ancestry, the forgotten migrations of the Bronze Age, and what genetics really reveals about the people of the ancient Levant. 💬 What surprised you most about the ancient Canaanite DNA findings?
