There's a not so fun fact that always gives me the iggly wigglies when I think about it, and it's that biologists estimate that parasites account for roughly half of all of the animals on the planet.
Adopting a parasitic lifestyle has evolved independently in nature at least 223 different times, making it the most common lifestyle in the animal kingdom, and almost all of them have learnt the one simple rule of their trade… don't kill the host that feeds you…
Anyway, completely unrelated anecdotes aside. Today's wealthiest people enjoy a lifestyle that no other humans in history would have even been able to comprehend.
They can travel anywhere, wield massive influence, finance technologies that could reshape the future, or you know, just live out their days in endless luxury.
These are privileges afforded to them through some combination of their own hard work, luck, and expertise… but also a system that enables entrepreneurship, gives them access to the basic infrastructure to build their businesses on top of, protects property rights on their behalf, and well… to put it generously… doesn't ask that much of them in return…
Regardless of exactly where your politics lie, I think we can all agree that our modern global economy is a pretty nice environment to be a global billionaire…
So… why are so many of them so desperate to kill the host?
