Description

Louis “Louie the Mooch” Eboli carried one of the most recognizable names in organized crime. His father, Thomas “Tommy Ryan” Eboli, had risen to the top of New York’s Genovese family—but Louis built his own reputation inside the Chicago Outfit. Operating from Chicago’s western suburbs, Eboli became involved in gambling, loansharking and extortion. But when a dangerous financial problem reportedly reached the Outfit’s senior leadership, his powerful family name could no longer shield him. Tony Accardo—the legendary boss who remained above Chicago’s day-to-day bloodshed—became personally involved. What debt had become serious enough to attract Accardo’s attention? Did Eboli’s position inside the Outfit protect him—or place him directly under its control? And why did Chicago’s most powerful mobsters consider his personal problems their responsibility? Eboli’s relationship with Accardo became even more complicated after his father was murdered in New York in 1972. Louis reportedly demanded revenge, but Accardo refused to let him start a war. Armed Outfit men confined Eboli to his own home, turning a supposed act of protection into something resembling imprisonment. Years later, Eboli’s name surfaced again in connection with one of the Chicago Outfit’s most infamous crimes: the murders of Tony and Michael Spilotro. This is the story of Louis “Louie the Mooch” Eboli—the Mafia boss’s son whose debt, rage and desire for revenge eventually became Tony Accardo’s problem. #LouisEboli #TonyAccardo #ChicagoOutfit #ThomasEboli #SpilotroBrothers #MafiaHistory #OrganizedCrime #StreetFiles
