Description

There's a 700-year-old burial mound with a street address in Toronto. Taber Hill in Scarborough was just a neighbourhood sledding hill until 1956, when a steam shovel working on a construction project hit human remains. People first assumed they were 19th-century settlers who died of cholera. Then archaeologist Walter Kenyon ran a salvage excavation and found the burials were Indigenous, dating to between 1250 and 1400 CE. He estimated the hill holds more than 500 people. Today the City of Toronto protects it as a registered cemetery, fenced off from the rest of the park. The full story is in the upcoming main video, Ancient Pyramids of Canada.
