When seasoned journalist Jacob Harker (Rob Boltin) unexpectedly loses his job, his entire world is turned upside down. Facing financial strain and an uncertain future, he and his supportive wife Haley (Gwendolyn Edwards) are forced to downsize and move into a modest, isolated rental property managed by the enigmatic landlord, Webster Cain (Terry Boyer). As they try to adapt to their new lifestyle, Jacob stumbles upon a hidden piece of history left behind in the house: a discarded, vintage audio recording belonging to an obscure 1960s blues singer named Carol James. Instantly captivated by the raw emotion, depth, and haunting beauty of the voice on the tape, the investigative instinct within Jacob reawakens. What begins as a simple distraction quickly spirals into a profound, unrelenting obsession. Jacob launches a deep investigation into the life, career, and sudden disappearance of Carol James, uncovering a complex web of long-buried secrets that might be much closer to his new home than he ever imagined. 🎬 An Intriguing Blend of Mystery and Music: The Recording is a compelling independent feature that beautifully weaves elements of a psychological mystery with a deep appreciation for retro blues culture.
