Description

The Allies set a deadline. Declare war on Germany or Japan by the first of March 1945, and you're a founding member of the United Nations. Miss it and you're not. What followed was five weeks of countries picking a side that had already won. One had been selling to Germany the year before. One had hosted the largest battle in Africa and said nothing until it was over. One had no forces in the war at all and made the cutoff by hours. And one turned up four weeks late and got in anyway. Every one of them got a seat. Germany surrendered in May.
