Description

On the 8th of September, 2002, a twenty three year old French snowboarder stood on the summit of Mount Everest. He had just spent twelve and a half hours clawing up through chest-deep snow. He was exhausted, hunched over, barely speaking. And he was about to drop toward the most dangerous line on the mountain, a couloir no one had ever ridden. The Sherpas begged him to climb down with them the safe way. He refused. He strapped into his board, said two words, and dropped into the cloud. Those two words were "See you tomorrow." No one ever saw him again. His body has never been found. And more than twenty years later, nobody can agree on what actually happened to him, or even whether he is truly dead. His name was Marco Siffredi, and there are two versions of him. A reckless kid on a suicide run who finally pushed too far. Or a visionary so far ahead of his sport that the world would need another twenty three years to catch up. This is the mystery of the first man to snowboard Everest, and the line that swallowed him.
