Description
My book is here 📚 https://marilynliving.com
When I started living alone after Gerald passed, nobody told me how complicated it would be - but nobody told me what I would refuse to give up either. I'm Marilyn Vance, 68, and for thirty years I worked inside senior living, running admissions and move-ins. I watched hundreds of women walk through that door to give up their own address. Then I lived it myself.
In this video, I share ten things nobody tells you about living alone:
• Coming home to no hot food waiting is a specific grief
• The house keeps going even when the person who fixed it is gone
• The quiet arrives on a Friday and does not leave until Monday
• Your cooking changes when you cook for someone whose opinion you can never disappoint
• You start fixing things yourself - and you can
• Your space becomes yours when nobody has to be consulted
• The house sounds different when every song is one you chose
• Your social life gets smaller and more honest
• You pick up things nobody needed your evening for
• You fall in love with the freedom, and it sneaks up on you
These are not opinions. They are things I witnessed from behind the admissions desk for thirty years, and then lived myself for four years in the same house in Greensboro, North Carolina.
