A Father's Comfort | Little House On The Prairie

Charles locates Laura crying by the creek and consoles her by comparing her emotional pain to the time they lost their dog Jack. He then recounts a story about a younger girl named Tagalong who used to chase him during his youth, revealing she later grew up to be Caroline. This helps Laura understand changing affections. Laura admits she acted out of jealousy towards Mary and recognizes the need to make amends.
