Description
Your AR-15 becomes a paperweight the moment ammunition runs out. Night vision dies when batteries do.
📖 The book I mention in the video — The $40 Off-Grid Manual: gridvet.myreads.store
Between 1200 and 1890, armies conquered continents with weapons that needed nothing but wood, iron, rope and human strength—no batteries, no powder mills 500 miles away, no federal firearms license.
Twenty of them are shown here, and three forgotten designs outperform their modern equivalents in off-grid scenarios. One was used to kill a charging grizzly in Alaska in 2019. Another held a defensive perimeter for 11 days in the Balkans after ammunition ran out. The felling axe, billhook, adze, draw knife, and froe—all farm auction finds for $12 to $40, all legal to own and carry. Spring traps and deadfalls that wait for months without maintenance. The shepherd's sling delivering 280 foot-pounds at 120 yards. Clay bullets molded from riverbank soil and baked in a campfire. The crossbow, banned by the Church in 1139 because it let a farmer kill a mounted knight. The atlatl, 30,000 years older than the bow, clearing 100 yards and punching through hide armor. Polearms that gave untrained fighters 12 feet of reach. The matchlock arquebus, so simple you could build and maintain it without electricity or precision machining. And Greek fire, the Byzantine incendiary that spread on water and burned for 800 years without the recipe ever being written down.
These weapons didn't disappear because they stopped working. They disappeared because governments wanted standardization and urbanization killed the knowledge. Most are completely legal to build and own in the US—no permit, no registration, no paperwork. They're survival knowledge, and they don't care if the power's on.
