Description

DARK PSYCHOLOGY OF INTELLIGENCE: Why School Never Measured Your Real Mind In 1925, a con man named Victor Lustig sold the Eiffel Tower to a room full of scrap metal dealers. He never finished formal school. On paper, by every system we use to measure intelligence, he was nobody — and that is exactly why he is worth studying. This is the psychology of intelligence the way it actually works, and why the version you were tested on may have been measuring one narrow slice of your mind. We look at Nicholas Humphrey's 1976 work on why primate brains grew in the first place, and the idea that later became known as the Machiavellian Intelligence Hypothesis — the argument that intelligence evolved to read, predict, and outmaneuver other minds, not to do math. We walk through the 1985 Recife street vendor study by Terezinha Nunes, David Carraher, and Analucia Schliemann, where children who did flawless multi-step math in the market failed the identical problems the moment they appeared on paper. We break down Robert Sternberg's three intelligences — analytical, creative, and practical — and why most schools test one third of the mind and then issue a verdict on the whole person. And we look at Oxford research psychologist Kevin Dutton's work on people who score high on psychopathic traits but never became criminals, and why total social awareness with zero emotional interference can look like brilliance. Most people think intelligence is about how much you know. It is about how little you need to defend. #darkpsychology #psychologyofintelligence #intelligence #psychology #
