Description

1956 was a big year for American cars. Gas was about 25 cents a gallon, horsepower was rising fast, and the Federal Aid Highway Act was about to transform the way Americans traveled. In this video, we look at 9 cars everyone was driving in 1956, including the Chevrolet 210, Plymouth Savoy, Oldsmobile 88, Ford Fairlane, Chevrolet Bel Air, Buick Century, Pontiac Chieftain, Ford Customline, and Mercury Montclair. These were the cars filling American driveways, highways, and high school parking lots during the early days of the American horsepower era.
