Description

For a generation of racing game fans, Burnout was unlike anything else. From the original Burnout to Burnout 3: Takedown, Burnout Revenge, and Burnout Paradise, Criterion Games built a franchise around spectacular crashes, chaotic races, and some of the most satisfying destruction ever seen in a racing game. So how did one of the most beloved arcade racing franchises of the 2000s simply disappear? After EA acquired Criterion Games, Burnout continued to thrive, but the studio was gradually moved away from the franchise it created and toward Need For Speed. As the racing genre changed, Burnout’s crash-focused gameplay became harder for EA to justify as a major AAA franchise. Eventually, the series was left behind. Could Burnout ever make a comeback? #burnout #burnout3 #needforspeed #videogames
