Description

In the frozen forests of Finland during the Winter War of 1939–1940, one man became a nightmare the Soviet Red Army could barely see coming. Simo Häyhä was a Finnish farmer and soldier who fought on the Kollaa front during one of the coldest and most brutal campaigns of the war. Using a Mosin-Nagant rifle without a scope, white camouflage, patience, and an intimate knowledge of the Finnish wilderness, Häyhä became known as “The White Death.” Soviet soldiers searched for him. Counter-snipers hunted him. Artillery was used against suspected positions. But the sniper remained almost impossible to locate. Then, near the end of the Winter War, a single shot changed everything. This documentary tells the story of Simo Häyhä, the Winter War, the Battle of Kollaa, and the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the man whose name became feared across the Soviet front. Watch until the end to discover how the White Death survived the war—and what happened after the shooting finally stopped. #simohayha #winterwar #wwii #historydocumentary
