Description

3,500 years ago, a pharaoh made a decision his own generals called reckless — and it became the first battle in history with a detailed written record. In 1457 BCE, Thutmose III marched on the rebel city of Megiddo. Three roads led there — two wide and safe, one a narrow mountain pass so tight his army could only walk single-file. His officers warned an ambush there could destroy the entire army. He took it anyway, caught the enemy completely unprepared, and won. A scribe recorded every step of the campaign at Karnak Temple — the oldest surviving detailed military account in history. #EgyptianHistory #AncientEgypt #BattleOfMegiddo #ThutmoseIII #MilitaryHistory #Archaeology #History #AncientHistory #Egypt #AncientWarfare #Civilizations #Documentary #historydocumentary Sources: Annals of Thutmose III (Karnak Temple inscriptions), recorded by scribe Tjaneni, 18th Dynasty Egypt
