Every Godzilla Movie Is Wrong About This One Thing (Except Minus One)

We kill it with the power of the sea. Another day in the yard!!!! Seventy years of movies have tried to kill Godzilla: a chemical that breaks atoms, cadmium shells, a volcano, bacteria that eat radiation, a black hole fired from space, an absolute zero cannon, fighter jets on the Brooklyn Bridge and commuter trains packed with explosives. Every one goes through the same three inspections: could you build the weapon, does it hit what Godzilla actually is, and does the physics survive an animal fifty meters tall. Then Godzilla Minus One kills him with refrigerator gas, a balloon company and two old destroyers, and the movie shows you how it works an hour before it happens. The science is real: two Monash University physicists proved in 2003 that bubbles can sink a ship, 1,500 meters of seawater really is about 1,500 tons on every square meter, and the thing that kills deep-sea animals is not depth but how fast they come up. It crippled the man who built the Brooklyn Bridge. It also has one catch the film quietly covers. Plus the Shinden that flew three times in August 1945, the ejection seat nobody asked for, the destroyers that were handed to China and the Soviet Union in real life, and the 35 artists who won the Oscar.
