Description

In Audioslave's biggest hit "Like A Stone", Chris Cornell wrote "I confess I was lost in the pages of a book full of death, reading how we'll die alone". Fifteen years later, he was gone. The track was Audioslave's biggest triumph but most people never understood what it was actually about. On first listen, it sounded like a love song. But taking a deeper look at it, it was something quieter and much darker than that. In this video, we break down why "Like a Stone" is one of the most misunderstood songs of the 2000s, and why, after May 17, 2017, it became impossible to listen to it the same way again. We cover: - How Audioslave was born from the ashes of Rage Against The Machine and Soundgarden - Why Tom Morello made himself invisible so Cornell could shine - The writing process Cornell described as "letting it happen" - What the song was really saying and why it took his death for most of us to hear it Chris Cornell once said the whole first Audioslave record came from "a really bad place." This is the story of what that place sounded like. 0:00 Intro 1:17 Chapter 1 - Lyrical Mystery 2:02 Chapter 2 - The End of Rage 4:06 Chapter 3 - The New Guy at 38 5:28 Chapter 4 - The Genius of Tom Morello 7:21 Chapter 5 - Chris' Voice 9:11 Chapter 6 - The Struggles of Chris 10:51 Chapter 7 - The Songwriting Method 12:31 Chapter 8 - Why It Lasts #ChrisCornell #LikeAStone #Audioslave #Soundgarden #MusicEssay #RockMusic
