While Tara fondly remembers how her loving parents, Mukesh and Mamta, showered her with affection and dignity during Karwa Chauth and Diwali back at her maternal home, her mother-in-law, Komolika, father-in-law, Dinesh, sister-in-law, Niharika, and brother-in-law, Dhruv, treat her like an unpaid maid. During Karwa Chauth, Komolika gives Tara a mere hundred rupees for preparations, withholds the traditional sargi plate sent by her maternal home, and forces her to fast on an empty stomach while denying her permission to visit the salon, after which an indifferent Pranshu arrives past midnight and callously forces her to break her fast through an open window with plain water. The abuse escalates ahead of Diwali as Tara is made to perform grueling cleaning despite spraining her wrist, only to be refused proper shopping while Niharika receives exorbitant luxury gifts, culminating on Diwali night when Pranshu publicly betrays Tara by introducing his mistress, Disha, as his soon-to-be second wife and declaring that his family never wanted Tara. Devastated yet resolute, Tara calls her father and brother to rescue her, permanently leaving the toxic household behind. When Pranshu and his family arrive at her parents' doorstep a week later begging for forgiveness after Disha swindles and abandons Pranshu, Tara fiercely confronts them for mistreating women like disposable servants, announces her impending divorce alongside her upcoming wedding to a man of her own choice, and throws them out, leaving Pranshu to spiral into addiction while she moves forward into a peaceful, respected new life.
