Description
Behind the ordinary internet lies a hidden marketplace where stolen data, drugs, fake documents, weapons and other illegal goods can be bought and sold anonymously.
A shared garage in Silicon Valley. A crowded family home outside Chicago. For the working Americans in this documentary, a place of their own means privacy, safety and the chance to begin again.
Hilton and Diana live in a shared garage in a trailer park, getting by on his cafeteria wages amid the striking contrasts of Silicon Valley. After a burglary, DJ and Tequita move in with his mother while trying to rebuild a secure home for their children. DJ searches for better-paying work as everyday expenses leave little room for setbacks.
Meanwhile, Iraq veteran Jose and his partner Elizabeth face an anxious mortgage approval process, discovering how complicated buying a first home can become. Amelia, approaching her 50th birthday, reflects on immigration, recovery and the years spent rebuilding trust with her daughter.
Through family dinners, exhausting commutes, financial paperwork and carefully counted dollars, this documentary explores the distance between working hard and feeling secure. These are personal stories of responsibility, resilience and the hope that a fresh start is still possible.
