Horror Icons Cast Then & Now: 48 Years of Transformation (1978-2026)

October is one of the busiest months of the year for the darker side of cinema. Horror, suspense, monsters, masked killers and supernatural legends return to the spotlight as Halloween approaches. Halloween traces its roots back more than 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, celebrated mainly in Ireland and other parts of the Celtic world. It marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year. People believed that on this night the boundary between the living and the dead became thinner. Over the centuries, these traditions blended with Christian celebrations such as All Hallows’ Eve, eventually evolving into the Halloween we know today, celebrated every year on October 31. In this special, 25 masked characters, horror icons and heavily made-up legends reveal the real performers behind their unforgettable appearances — followed by their transformation through the years. Some are terrifying. Some are legendary. And some faces behind the masks may surprise you.
