Carlton Hines: The Ruthless Drug Lord Who Traded Hoops For Blood

How did a high school basketball prodigy throw away 35 college scholarships, build a $225,000-a-day Bronx cocaine empire, and end up assassinated by one of New York's most feared street killers? According to accounts from the 1990s South Bronx, Carlton "Dunking" Hines allegedly transitioned from a guaranteed NBA lottery pick to the absolute architect of a massive neighborhood narcotics network. Operating a highly organized 8-man syndicate, he reportedly dominated the local underworld, pulling in quarter-million-dollar days right under the noses of the authorities. The streets watched in awe and fear as extreme wealth, untouchable arrogance, and a sudden descent into fatal violence allegedly allowed a former hoops legend to thrive as a neighborhood kingpin. This unchecked street power and a fatal unpaid debt ultimately put a target on his back, forcing a deadly collision with the notorious Sex Money Murder gang.
