James Webb Looked Into Deep Space… What It Found Could Be Planet 9

Batygin says the Vera Rubin Observatory could finally reveal Planet Nine or discover enough new Kuiper Belt objects to confirm or disprove the hypothesis. Brown believes it could be found within the observatory’s first year, calling it one of this century’s greatest discoveries. Rubin is also searching for accretion flares that could expose a primordial black hole instead. Right now, evidence points to something massive beyond Neptune, though some scientists argue it’s only a statistical illusion. A decades old infrared candidate remains intriguing, but only direct observation will settle the mystery. Whatever Rubin finds a planet, a black hole, or neither will transform our understanding of the solar system.
