Description

The Battle of Salamis (480 BC) was one of the decisive naval battles of ancient history. King Xerxes commands a vast Persian fleet, but Themistocles has one weapon Persia cannot overpower: a trap hidden in the narrow waters of Salamis. This historical short film brings the Greco-Persian Wars and ancient naval warfare to life through strategy, deception, sacrifice, and brutal close-range combat. Athens has burned. The Greek alliance is divided, its commanders argue over retreat, and the Persian armada appears unstoppable. To force Persia into a battlefield where superior numbers become a weakness, Themistocles sends Sicinnus across enemy lines with a dangerous false message. Believing the Greeks are preparing to flee, Xerxes orders his fleet into the confined Salamis Strait. Greek triremes then strike with bronze rams, arrows, boarding attacks, and hand-to-hand combat as the Persian formation collapses around them. The film follows the divided Greek council, Sicinnus' secret mission, Persian spies and sabotage, Xerxes taking the bait, and the naval battle that changed the course of the Greco-Persian Wars. This is a dramatic interpretation inspired by the Battle of Salamis, not a documentary. Some characters, dialogue, and events have been condensed or fictionalized for storytelling. Could the Greeks have survived without Themistocles' trap? Share your view in the comments.
