Description

There is a version of the 1970s that people remember fondly. The music, the movies, the culture. And then there is what was happening in the parking lots. Because while everything else about that decade has aged into nostalgia, the cars have not. The 1970s gave us federal bumper mandates, the oil crisis, emissions regulations that strangled every engine they touched, and executives who responded to all of it by apparently firing their entire design departments and replacing them with people who had never seen an attractive car in their lives. The results were spectacular in the worst possible way. Today we are counting down the 15 ugliest cars the decade produced. Some of these came from Detroit. Some came from Europe. One of them came from a man in Idaho with 350 pounds of Bondo and what can only be described as a personal vendetta against good taste. All of them made it out of a factory, past an approval process, and onto public roads where real human beings had to look at them.
