After losing her husband, a determined young widow leaves New York and heads west with hopes of building a better future for herself and her family. Arriving in the rough Arizona frontier, she quickly discovers that starting over will require courage, hard work, and a willingness to face the unexpected. With no easy path ahead, Lu takes a job on a ranch and proves that she can handle the demanding life of the frontier. Her strength and determination soon earn her the respect of people who initially doubt that a woman can succeed in such a tough environment. Life becomes even more complicated when two very different men enter her world. A charming gambler and a rugged rancher both compete for her attention, creating a playful rivalry while Lu tries to decide what kind of future she really wants. But frontier life is not all romance and adventure. When trouble threatens the town, Lu finds herself drawn into a dangerous situation that tests her courage and changes her place in the community.
