We Spent 14 Days Restoring This 90-Year-Old Couple's Home

A 90-year-old couple had to leave their home for several months while their old neighborhood underwent major renovations. With new drainage pipes being installed throughout the community, including inside each home, the house could no longer be lived in during construction. Their granddaughter arranged for them to stay at a care home, giving us the opportunity to step in and restore their home before they returned. Over the next 14 days, we decluttered every room, deep cleaned the entire home, removed moldy wallpaper, repaired and repainted the walls, sorted through years of belongings, and gave their small courtyard a fresh start. Along the way, we found Grandpa’s handmade root sculptures, old keepsakes, forgotten cash, expired food and supplements, and many things the couple no longer needed. It was a long process, but with their family’s trust and cooperation, we were able to give this little home a fresh, clean, and comfortable new beginning.
