Description

We all know how a milling machine works, but have you ever seen this trick?! 🎨⚙️ If you are a car guy, you've definitely seen a machine shop resurface a cylinder head. When an engine overheats, the metal warps. Think of the cylinder head as a heavy metal lid clamping down on a pressure cooker—if that lid isn't perfectly flat, the extreme explosions inside the engine will escape through the microscopic gaps and burn right through the head gasket! To fix it, this machinist uses a genius trick you've probably never seen! Before putting it on the mill, they coat the warped surface in bright, striped paint. As the massive blade passes over the metal, it shaves the high spots clean but leaves the paint behind in the warped low spots! It creates a perfect visual map of the damage, and they keep cutting until all the paint is completely gone and the engine can seal flawlessly!
